II Rachmaninoff International Competition for Pianists, Composers and Conductors Announces Open Call for Applications

December 24, 2024 – Applications are now open for the II Rachmaninoff International Competition for Pianists, Composers, and Conductors.

Under the patronage of the Government of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Culture, the competition will take place in Moscow from June 14 to June 26, 2025. ROSCONCERT is the official organizer.

Applications can be submitted online at the official Competition website, until March 1, 2025.

The competition celebrates the multifaceted genius of Sergei Rachmaninoff through three disciplines: Piano, Composition, and Conducting. A legendary virtuoso pianist, brilliant conductor, and great composer, Rachmaninov bequeathed an extraordinary cultural legacy to the world.

Denis Matsuev, People's Artist of Russia, serves as Artistic Director and will lead the Piano jury. Valery Gergiev, People's Artist of Russia, will chair the Conducting jury, and Alexander Tchaikovsky, People's Artist of Russia, will head the Composition jury. 

In anticipation of the upcoming Competition, the organizers have prepared the film “Rachmaninoff Competition: New Horizons”, which highlights the most memorable moments and key figures from this remarkable musical event. Viewers can watch the film on the official Competition website and in the Competition’s official VKontakte community.

The first edition of the competition took place in Moscow from June 14 to 27, 2022, welcoming musicians from Russia, Belarus, the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Germany, Slovenia, China, Singapore, Brazil, and the United States.
