Sergey Senkov (Russia)

Sergey Senkov – Magister of art criticism, Honored High school professor of Russian Federation, dean of piano faculty of The Russian State Academy of Music in Moscow (Gnessin’s), vice-president of A.N. Skriabin foundation.

Sergey Senkov graduated from The Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory (professor T. Nikolaeva class), and then finished post-graduate courses of The Moscow State Gnessins Musical-Pedagogical Institute (professor T. Gutman class). Twice he was a prize-winner of The All-Union Piano Competitions: in Leningrad (1977) and The I-st Rachmaninoff All-Union Competition in Moscow (1983).

Sergey Senkov began his concert activities in Russia and abroad since student age. He took part with T. Nikolaeva and S. Sondeckis in performing and recording of the cycle “12 Clavier Concertos by Bach”, made solo records on Moscow Radio, issued CD-s with piano pieces by S. Rachmaninoff, Mozart and Ravel.

Sergey Senkov wrote the dissertation “Stile specifics and problems of interpretation of piano sonatas and variations by S.V. Rachmaninoff”. He also wrote a lot of articles dedicated to the problem of piano interpretation, musical education and culture.

Sergey Senkov began his pedagogical activities since 1980, working in The Gnessin’s Special Music School, The Moscow State Conservatory College, The Moscow State Musical-Pedagogical Institute (Gnessin’s), Danish Royal Academy of Music, KBS-MEDIA conservatory (Seoul). More than 50 of his students become winners of international piano competitions.

Sergey Senkov constantly carried on concerts and masterclasses, participate in jury of piano competitions in Russia, USA, England, Germany, France, Switzerland, Denmark, Greece, Serbia, Mexico, China, South Korea and others.
