Festival Brass of the White Nights meets the winners of the I Rachmaninoff International Competition
Today, on June 28 at 19:00 all gold medal winners and laureates of the I Rachmaninoff International Competition perform at the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre as a part of the First International Music Festival Brass of the White Nights.
The gala concert open with Festive Overture by Dmitry Shostakovich performed by the Brass Ensemble of the Mariinsky Theatre under Valery Gergiev following by Shostakovich Piano Concerto No 1. Soloists are Denis Matsuev (piano) and Timur Martynov (trumpet). Conductor – Valery Gergiev.
Then the baton will be picked up by the winners of the First Rachmaninoff International Competition for Pianists, Composers and Conductors. The Petersburg public will be the first to hear all the winners of the gold medals of the Competition. Pianists Ivan Bessonov (Russia, 1st Prize) and Alexander Klyuchko (Russia, 1st Prize) will perform with the Mariinsky Orchestra conducted by Valery Gergiev. The concert program also features a work by composer Yuanfan Yang (Great Britain, 1st Prize).
Fragments of symphonies by S. Rachmaninoff performed by the Mariinsky Orchestra under conductors Gurgen Petrosyan (Russia, 1st prize), Philipp Selivanov (Russia, 1st prize), Clement Nonciaux (France, 2nd prize) and Haoran Li (China, 3rd prize) are also included in the programme.
