Denis Matsuev and the Russian National Youth Symphony Orchestra conducted by Valery Gergiev will open the Rachmaninoff International Competition

On June 15th at 19:00 at the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory will host a concert on the occasion of the grand opening of the Rachmaninoff International Competition for pianists, composers and conductors.

The Russian National Youth Symphony Orchestra conducted by Valery Gergiev will perform Sergei Rachmaninoff`s «Symphonic Dances» and Piano Concerto №3. The soloist is Denis Matsuev.

Tickets for the grand opening and for all the events of the Competition are already on sale, and can also be purchased using the Pushkin Card.

«I personally have no doubt that our Competition will give the world new bright talents. We are looking forward to its beginning. I am sure it`s gonna be very hot in Moscow this summer!», – said Denis Matsuev, the Artistic Director of the Competition.

Recall that the Rachmaninoff International Competition for Pianists, Composers and Conductors will be held in Moscow from 14-27 June 2022 on the stages of the Moscow Conservatory, the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall and the Rachmaninov Hall (Philharmonia-2). The competition was established in 2021 at the suggestion of the People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Denis Matsuev on the eve of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sergei Rachmaninoff in 2023.
