Photo exhibition Rachmaninoff’s Universe

Photo exhibition Rachmaninoff’s Universe

From 17 March to 4 May in the square opposite the ROSCONCERT building in Moscow, a unique exhibition dedicated to the 150th anniversary of S.V. Rachmaninoff will be on display.

The exhibition was conceived and created using materials from Rachmaninoff’s rich creative archive, which were donated by the composer’s relatives and close friends over the years to the collections of the Russian National Museum of Music. For half a century, these documents have served as a basis for research work and studies of Rachmaninoff’s creative heritage. The exhibits include rare and little-known documents, the family tree of the Rachmaninoff family, the composer’s student works, and author’s manuscripts of both canonical works and relatively unknown ones. The exhibited pictures captured monuments and memorial plaques that immortalized the name of the great composer, as well as iconic places associated with his life and work in Russia and abroad.

The  exhibition also presents the multimedia content. Using QR codes, one can listen to recordings of brilliant Rachmaninoff’s works played by the author and other world-famous musicians. The valuable addition to the exhibition’s multimedia content consists of recordings of Expomusic project radio broadcasts, presented on the websites of the Orpheus radio station and the Russian National Museum of Music.

The exhibition opens on the eve of the first Rachmaninoff International Youth Piano Competition, which will be held from 21 to 26 March 2023 in Veliky Novgorod.

The exhibition is organized by the Russian National Museum of Music with the support of the Federal State Budgetary Institution ROSCONCERT.
