Valery Gergiev, Denis Matsuev and Alexander Tchaikovsky present the laureates of the Rachmaninoff International Competition at the Music Festival Brass of the White Nights in St. Petersburg
On June 28 laureates of the Rachmaninoff International Competition will perform at the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre as part of the First Music Festival Brass of the White Nights.
The program of the gala concert will also include the Piano Concerto No 1 by Dmitry Shostakovich. Soloists: Denis Matsuev (piano) and Timur Martynov (trumpet). Conductor of the Mariinsky Orchestra – Valery Gergiev.
The St. Petersburg viewers will be one of the first to hear the performances of the best participants in the Rachmaninoff International Competition in three specialties, that occupied a major place in the work of Sergei Vasilyevich – piano, composition and conducting. For the laureates of the Competition, this concert is another chance to show themselves, and for spectators, it is an opportunity to see the live performance of those who were remembered at the auditions by online broadcasts. The pianists will play the best compositions from the competition program for solo piano and with the Mariinsky Orchestra, which will also be headed by laureates among the conductors. In addition, the concert program includes works written by composers for participation in the Competition.
