«Genius music speaks directly to your heart»

A concert within the program of the All-Russian cultural project – the marathon My Rachmaninoff will take place in Kazan.

On 24 October, the State Academic Symphony Capella of Russia, artistic director and chief conductor – People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Valery Polyansky, will give a concert on stage of the State Great Concert Hall named after S. Saidashev. Soloist – laureate of the Rachmaninoff International Competition for Pianists, Composers and Conductors Arseny Tarasevich-Nikolaev (piano).

Arseny Tarasevich-Nikolaev: “For me, any project associated with the name of Rachmaninoff is an opportunity to share with everyone what genuinely is Russian culture. Rachmaninoff is too great a genius and too beloved a composer to choose one, two or ten of his works, and put others one step lower. So it is difficult to answer the question which particular work by S.V. Rachmaninoff is my favorite. My favorite piece is the one I’m playing at the moment – this is the most honest answer.

With great pleasure I am coming back to Kazan, this is a very warm and hospitable city with a rich musical culture. What shall I wish the listeners? My only wish is to listen to music with an open heart. Don’t bother yourself with thoughts about greatness, about historical context and so on – all these issues can spark interest, but the beauty of genius music lies in the fact that it speaks directly to your heart.”

The All-Russian cultural project – the marathon My Rachmaninoff was organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the ANO “Novy Vek” with the assistance of the Federal State Budgetary Institution ROSCONCERT.
