From May 30 to August 29 Moscow is hosting an exhibition dedicated to the legacy of the great master, as well as to the laureates of the I Rachmaninoff International Competition for Pianists, Composers, and Conductors, held in 2022.

This unique project, New Names, New Discoveries, is presented by the Russian National Museum of Music. The exhibition is installed in the park opposite the ROSCONCERT headquarters at 10 Arkhangelsky per., Building 2 (entrance from Potapovsky per.).

The project offers insight into the life and work of one of the foremost musicians of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The first part of the exhibition invites visitors to rediscover the many facets of Sergei Rachmaninoff’s artistry—as a composer of global stature, an outstanding pianist, and a gifted conductor. On display are the manuscript of his Second Piano Concerto, the premiere poster of the opera Aleko, photographs of the composer, his close associates and family across different stages of his life, as well as several of his personal belongings.

The second section is dedicated to the competition that bears his name. Of particular note are photographs capturing the performances of the contestants, the awards ceremony, the festive opening, and moments from the concluding gala concert.

The II Rachmaninoff International Competition for Pianists, Composers, and Conductors will take place from June 14 to 26, with the support of the Government of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. The competition will be held in Moscow at the Grand and Small Halls of the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory, the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, and Philharmonia-2. The organizer of the competition is ROSCONCERT.
