The orchestras and soloists to perform together with the participants are defined
The Program of the Rachmaninoff International Competition is to demonstrate all facets of the composer’s talent. It includes piano concertos, symphonies, works for piano solo, and romances. Well-known Russian orchestras, conductors, pianists, and young talented opera singers were invited to perform with the participants at different rounds of the Competition.
The Symphony Orchestra of the State Symphony Capella of Russia was invited for the 1 round in the specialty “Conducting“. In the 2 round, the participants will conduct the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra. In the 3 round, the Mariinsky Orchestra will join the competition. Together with it the conductors will perform one symphony and one piano concerto or “Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini” by S.V. Rachmaninoff. Pianists to perform the piano part are Vadim Rudenko, Nikolai Kuznetsov, Alexey Melnikov, Sergei Kudryakov, and Alexander Ghindin. The program will be defined by a draw after the 2 round.
The program of the 1 and 2 rounds in the specialty “Piano” includes solo works. At the 1st stage of the 3 round, the participants will present the romances of S.V. Rachmaninoff. The vocal parts will be performed by singers of the Bolshoi Theatre Young Artists Opera Program under the guidance of Dmitry Vdovin. At the 2nd stage of the III tour, which includes piano concertos, the participants will perform together with the State Academic Symphony Orchestra “Evgeny Svetlanov” under the baton of Yury Tkachenko.
The piece for piano and orchestra of the participants in the specialty “Composition” will be performed by the State Symphony Orchestra “Novaya Rossiya” conducted by Fyodor Lednev, Anton Shaburov and Freddy Cadena. The pianists to perform the solo part were defined earlier.
